We all make mistakes when we knit. We drop a stitch or forget a yarn over.
We knit a stitch we should have purled. Then, we don't realize it until
the next row. Does this sound familiar? If so, then this class is for
you.
Pre-req: Must know basic knitting-casting on and off, knit, purl, knit two together, yarn over.
Techniques Learned:
1. Changing a purl stitch to a knit stitch and vice versa.
2. Fixing dropped stitches in stockinette and garter.
3. Using markers to more quickly identify mistakes.
4. Picking up a missed yarn over.
5. Tinking.
Materials needed prior to class:
Worsted weight yarn in a light color.
Knitting needles in size 7, 8 or 9.
Locking stitch markers.
Crochet hook in size G, H or I.
Homework required prior to arriving to class:
Come to class with two swatches:
1. Swatch 1-Cast on 25 stitches:
Row 1: K5, P5, K5, P5, K5.
Row 2: P5, K5, P5, K5, P5.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 nine more times (20 times total).
Do not bind off, leave on needles.
2. Swatch 2-Cast on 20 stitches:
Row 1: Knit across
Row 2: Purl across
Repeat rows 1 and 2 four more times (10 times total).
Row 11: K5, K2tog, YO, K5, K2tog, YO, K6.
Row 12: Purl across.
Do not bind off. Leave on needles.
